Cyclohexanone, an organic compound, is a saturated cyclic ketone containing a carbonyl carbon atom within a six membered ring. A colorless transparent liquid with a earthy odor, and containing trace amounts of phenols, it has a mint flavor. Impurities are light yellow in color and develop impurities over time, appearing in a water white to grayish yellow color with a strong pungent odor. Mixing with air has the same explosive polarity as open chain saturated ketones. There is insufficient evidence of carcinogenicity of cyclohexanone, which is mainly used as an organic synthesis raw material and solvent in industry. For example, it can dissolve nitrocellulose, coatings, paints, etc.
